Typically referred to as ‘Derry’, you’ve probably heard of Northern Ireland’s second-largest city through its troubled history, but the city now has a bright, youthful and optimistic vibe that is truly infectious, and you’ll be charmed by the warmth and wit of Londonderry locals. In the evening wander down to the waterfront and watch the sunset from Peace Bridge before heading out for dinner or drinks. Peadar O’Donnell’s is a great option if you want to hear some traditional Irish music, Mason’s is a cool music venue where you’ll hear up-and-coming rock bands, Sandino’s Café Bar is a trendy indie venue, and Brown’s Restaurant is one of the city’s most popular eateries – but it gets busy, so be sure to book in advance.
