And the Scientific Centre houses one of the largest aquariums in the Middle East, fascinating adults as much as children.

Kuwait also has one of the most discerning food scenes in the Middle East, with trendy pop-up restaurants appearing and vanishing monthly, alongside city staples that locals and tourists visit time and time again. Salem Al Mubarak Street in Salmiya, downtown Kuwait, has hidden gems amongst the mainstream chains, but for fine dining visit Assaha in the Bneid Al Qar district, with a cavernous vibe, an upmarket menu, and oodles of old-school charm.
