Enjoy the recently upgraded play area and updated facilities this summer, all thanks to a recent makeover of the Runway Visitor Park
Ahead of the schools breaking up in a few weeks, Manchester Airport’s Runway Visitor Park (RVP) is gearing up for an action-packed summer.
The popular family attraction, located opposite Runway One, has announced a programme of summer events and activities including the return of its popular Flight Academy experience for 4-12-year-olds.
Those visiting the RVP can also book a virtual flight on the recently-launched Fly360 Flight Simulator, the only one of its kind in the North West, and enjoy upgraded facilities including a brand-new play area complete with airplane climbers, swings, a trim trail of balance logs and climbing panels.
The 90-minute Flight Academy sessions, for children aged 4-12, give those taking part the chance to find out about the various different roles at the airport, from ground handlers to cabin crew, sit in the cockpit of a real aircraft and ‘take control’ of the flight deck. They then head outside to the viewing deck overlooking the runway and airfield to see all of this in action.
Places are now available for sessions in late July and throughout August, with adult-and-child tickets at only £12. Those taking part can also take advantage of discounted parking at just £5 for the full day, giving them the chance to explore the remainder of the RVP’s facilities at their own pace. The viewing deck offers the chance to watch aircraft such as the giant A380 coming and going at close quarters, and the RVP’s retired airliners including the iconic Concorde are open for tours. Attractions cater to everyone from casual visitors to aviation enthusiasts and an on-site café offers a Click-and-Collect service.
-Robert Hassard, RVP Manager
Those visiting the RVP on the August Bank Holiday weekend (Sunday 28th August and Monday 29th August) will be able to enjoy a family fun weekend, with a range of special activities for all ages.
The RVP has also recently launched a brand-new attraction, the Fly360 Flight Simulator. This immersive simulator allows budding pilots to take control of a WW2-era aircraft and provides a full range of motion allowing users to fly upside down. Prices start from £12 per session in the two-seat simulator with dual controls, equating to £6 per person, and the simulator will be running on various days through the school holidays.
Robert Hassard, RVP Manager, said: “The Runway Visitor Park is one of the North West’s most popular family visitor attractions and this summer we have a wide range of events, activities and exhibitions to keep youngsters occupied over the school holidays.
“The Flight Academy is a hugely popular programme for the 4-12 age group and we are delighted to be bringing it back. The Flight Simulator adds another layer to the experience of visiting the RVP for adults and older children so there really is something for all the family.”
Guests can book tours and experiences online via the RVP’s website and are encouraged to visit the bookings page for guidelines, terms, and conditions before booking.
Set onboard our DC10 Aircraft, children taking part in this session will learn about the different job roles that help ensure that Manchester Airport runs smoothly 365 days of the year.
Various dates are available throughout the summer.
