Manchester Airport Transformation - Phase Two
The check-in hall will be refurbished to the same iconic look and feel as the Terminal 2 extension, providing a warm welcome to all travelling through Manchester Airport. The latest self-service and hosted technology will help to make the check-in process smooth and efficient.
A second security hall will be fitted with next generation security equipment, providing a seamless experience for passengers.
The departure lounge will double in size, with 27 new outlets. There will be a designer retail area with champagne bar, high street area with well-known brands and various restaurants and eateries, drawing inspiration from the North.
Pier 2 will provide spacious boarding facilities with plenty of seating and exceptional airfield views. Passengers will be able to walk directly on to their aircraft from the pier.
A host of airfield works are being undertaken to improve the efficiency and flexibility of the airfield, which will unlock the full potential of our two runways and enable passengers to fly to even more destinations from Manchester.
The Arrivals Hall will be refurbished to match the same quality as in the Terminal 2 extension and will provide seven new eateries and shops for those who have just landed or are waiting for their loved ones.
Manchester Airport is committed to a sustainable future and providing benefits to our communities whilst minimising our impact on the environment.
A key element of Manchester Airport’s Transformation Programme is leaving a lasting legacy and ensuring that people and businesses from the region benefit from the development.
Phase two will see Mace and its supply chain partners will create more than 500 new jobs, engage 1,500 young people across Greater Manchester, aim to raise £70,000 for local charities and donate 500 hours of employee volunteering time. Mace and its supply chain partners are also targeting that at least 5% of the workforce should be apprentices for the duration of the project.
