The Airport line has landed
The new Metrolink line to Manchester Airport via Wythenshawe town centre is open for service over twelve months earlier than planned. The Metrolink stop is right inside the airport itself.
Trams from the airport will run as far as Cornbrook initially, until Metrolink’s transformational second line through the city centre is completed in 2017. There are frequent connections to the rest of the network from Cornbrook, with trams heading towards Altrincham, Bury, Ashton, East Didsbury, Eccles and Rochdale. For more information on the network visit www.metrolink.co.uk
Services run every 12 minutes on the airport line. Tickets are available from ticket machines on all platforms but not on-board, so be sure to purchase before you travel.
For those visiting Old Trafford football and cricket grounds, the quickest option is to take a direct tram to Trafford Bar. From there the stadiums are around a 10 minute walk.
