American Airlines re-launches Manchester-New York route for 2011
**Returns earlier than planned and selling as year round service**
Following the popularity of its non-stop summer seasonal Manchester-New York JFK route introduced last May, American Airlines has announced that it will re-launch the flight in 2011.
The route was originally set to return in May for the summer season only but following strong demand, this has been moved forward to 6th April, with the flight also expected to operate as a year round service.
As an additional bonus, the departures in both directions have also been re-timed by over an hour so that they will now depart Manchester earlier and leave New York later, enabling customers to really maximise their time in the Big Apple.
Maria Sebastian, Vice President Sales & Marketing EMEA, American Airlines, commented: “Since the route was launched in May 2010, literally thousands of customers have flown with us non-stop to New York and beyond. We are very grateful to everyone involved in making the flight a success and are excited to be able to respond to customer demand by bringing the flight back earlier and with sales open on an annual basis for next year.”
Andrew Harrison, Manchester Airport's Managing Director, said: “American Airlines is our longest serving American carrier from Manchester Airport, having operated continuously for 25 years. I’m delighted that the New York JFK service was so successful that it’s not only starting earlier than planned but will be operating a year round schedule from 2011. American Airlines is a key part of our long haul route network which supports the region's business interests across the world."
On its return, the route will again be operated by American’s internationally configured two-class Boeing 757-200 aircraft offering a total of 182 seats, including 16 in Business Class. As American’s second non-stop daily flight to the US from Manchester, it will complement the existing Chicago route which celebrates its 25th anniversary of operation in 2011. Together, the routes will offer customers departing Manchester the opportunity to connect onwards to around 125 destinations throughout the Americas and Caribbean.
