Using actual decibel-level readings submitted from users right across the planet, it cleverly assigns a volume to their location, and gives us a unique insight as to how noise levels vary from Montreal to the Maldives and everywhere in between. Quietest Locations

If you’d love nothing more than to kick back to the subdued sounds of the sea or the swaying of trees, these destinations should do you right. Quietest of all is the Isle of Man, where background noise typically matches a soft whisper.

Quietest Cities

If you’re one for the amenities and architecture of an urban environment but don’t like it loud, these top five quietest cities are the destinations for you. Best placed is Icelandic capital Reykjavik, where sound levels barely get above the rustling of leaves.
