For celeb spotting and a touch of glamour head to NOTI which boasts a modern contemporary European menu, friendly service... and more than its fair share of fashionistas.

Must be there for:
September 24th marks the feast of La Merce, when Barcelona’s patron saint is celebrated in no uncertain style with parades, sports events, religious celebrations and late night dancing.

Well-travelled tips:
If you’re staying in town, it would be hard to do better than the Neri Hotel and Restaurante. Converted from an 18th century palace, it fuses gothic architecture with contemporary touches like plasma TVs.
For a vibrant, coastal take on Catalonia, make the 35-kilometre homage to Sitges, the gay-friendly resort where the beach is a riot and everyone’s up for a party.
