Sydney
Australia
One of the Southern Hemisphere’s great World Cities, there’s a unique buzz about Sydney – a city that truly makes the most of its surroundings. Built around a stunning natural harbour, it has oodles of natural beauty and laid-back cosmopolitan vibe all mixed up into one delicious concoction. Go, and you’ll never forget it.
Must see:
The official Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it offers a view – and photo-opportunities – like nothing else on earth.
Must eat at:
A Sydney seafood legend, Doyle’s Seafood Restaurant bang on Circular Quay (or Watson’s Bay a little further out) serves-up all manner of fishy and crustacean favourites – fun, family friendly, and with views on tap.
Well-travelled tips:
· Never miss out on a chance to visit Bondi Beach, but when you’re in the water, watch out for its infamously strong current, known locally as ‘Backpacker’s Rip’
· When you’re exploring the city centre, make Circular Quay your hub – it’s where trains, buses and ferries all come together.
Must be there for:
New Year’s Eve in Sydney is rightly world famous, as the entire city (and, it seems, most of the country) descends on the harbour (and in the harbour) to witness one of the planet’s most impressive firework displays.Visa:
British citizens need a visa to enter Australia, and several options are available if you’re going on holiday or business. For full information, visit www.immi.gov.au
