Thomas Cook Airlines launches new routes to Miami and New York JFK from Manchester

29th April 2014

Thomas Cook Airlines has announced that it will operate a three times per week service to New York, JFK, from Manchester Airport from May 2015. The airline has also announced the only flights to Miami from outside London with a twice weekly schedule from Manchester, again with first flights in May 2015. The new Miami route will cater for families looking for holidays, those looking to join Caribbean cruises and, like travellers to New York, those taking advantage of a vast array of connections across the USA.

Flight-only sales for both routes begin on 7 May 2014 at, with a special launch offer of 299 return to New York and 399 return to Miami – both including baggage allowance and meals*.

Commenting on the new routes, CEO of Thomas Cook Airlines, Christoph Debus, said, “As well as bringing a new and alternative approach to travelling to New York - catering for both business and leisure travellers - our new cabin interiors, premium service and upgraded economy will change the way customers view Thomas Cook Airlines, as we look to provide a great quality product at a great price.

“Over a million people travel from the UK to Miami each year, currently served only by London airports. With the launch of this exclusive route from Manchester, holidaymakers and cruise passengers looking for flights from the north of the UK will now have more options for travel. Both routes will also allow significant onward travel across the USA - we’re bringing travel to the states closer to the rest of Britain.”

With new Thomas Cook holiday brochures for Summer 15 in stores this week – including breaks to New York and Miami - flights will operate year-round on the airline’s refurbished A330 fleet and will feature a brand-new Premium service as well as an upgraded Economy experience.

Aviation Commercial Director for Manchester Airports Group (MAG) Stephen Turner said: “We’re thrilled that Thomas Cook are expanding their long-haul destinations from Manchester to include New York and Miami, both of which will open up many more connections across the USA as well as being sought after destinations for our passengers.

“The Miami route will be the first direct scheduled Manchester to Miami service in seven years and will no doubt be a very popular destination choice for our passengers. We have a strong passenger base to support more direct services and connections to the USA and this is something we’re keen to build on.”

Adding an additional 60,000 passengers to the airline’s Manchester capacity, the first flights of these new routes in May 2015 will include the introduction of a new Premium service across all Thomas Cook Airline’s long haul routes. Customers can look forward to advance seat reservation and priority check-in, up to 32kg hold baggage, as well as brand new seating with 35 inch seat pitch and 19.7 inch width.
