Must see:
Cuba’s oldest tourist attraction is about to celebrate its 150th birthday. The Bellamar Caves are a whole series of stunning natural formations which has been drawing gasps from visitors for generations.

Must eat at:
Be swept off your feet at the Villa Du Pont – upstairs it’s the HQ of the local golf club... but downstairs it’s home to Las Americas – a Varadero gastronomic institution, where the accent is very much deluxe. (Don’t forget to order a Mojito at Mirador, upstairs, on your way in).

Must be there for:
Every other year, in and around March, the world’s chefs come to Varadero for the International Culinary Festival, giving you the chance to sample a whole world of innovative dishes, fresh from the kitchen.

Well-travelled tips:
- Don’t forget to keep enough small change to pay your 25CUC departure tax at the airport
- If you can, hold off on buying your rum until you’ve visited the Casa re Ron in town.

British citizens wishing to travel to Cuba on holiday need to apply for a tourist visa card.
