Get a more elevated view of the world with an official 60-minute tour of the world-famous Airbus factory, where the new A380 superjumbo is assembled. Who knows, it may even be where your plane was made.

Cross the Pont Neuf and head for the Brasserie Les Beaux-Arts for a touch of artistic authenticity. It once was a watering hole for a whole generation of artists including Matisse.

- There’s not much call for a massive tube network in this compact city, so the Toulouse metro just has two lines to get to know. Easy.
- The Cite de l’Espace – Space City – is perfect if you’ve got youngsters in tow. Young boys, in particular, will lose themselves in it.
