Must see:
Get a more elevated view of the world with an official 60-minute tour of the world-famous Airbus factory, where the new A380 superjumbo is assembled. Who knows, it may even be where your plane was made.

Must eat at:
Cross the Pont Neuf and head for the Brasserie Les Beaux-Arts for a touch of artistic authenticity. It once was a watering hole for a whole generation of artists including Matisse.

Must be there for:
Rose meets violet every February in Toulouse when the world’s violet fraternity (there is such a thing) descends on the city to share their love of this beautiful flower.

Well-travelled tips:
- There’s not much call for a massive tube network in this compact city, so the Toulouse metro just has two lines to get to know. Easy.
- The Cite de l’Espace – Space City – is perfect if you’ve got youngsters in tow. Young boys, in particular, will lose themselves in it.
