Must see:
Of an evening, strut your stuff and head for the Glorieta, a tree-lined square in the centre of town... which is the place to see and be seen.

Must eat at:
Stop by at Rincón del Molinero while you’re out shopping for its astonishingly good value 3-course set lunch menu. Or, strictly for the adventurous, phone in ahead to order the roast lamb’s head...

Must be there for:
Every September, the town re-enacts its bloodthirsty past in the Moors and Christians Festival – bringing ancient battles back to life and parading through the streets in no uncertain style.

Well-travelled tips:
- For a historical take on Murcia, walk up to the stunning Moorish fort on top of the nearby Monteagudo mountain – you can see it in the distance pretty much wherever you are in town.
- If you’re feeling outward-boundsy, take the car about 30km to the lush forests of the Sierra Espuna.

Visa:
British citizens do not need a visa to visit Spain.
