Must see:
Take a trip out to Neuhausen to see the delightfully named Schoss Nymphenburg, the beautiful summer palace that once housed the local Bavarian royals. And if you work up a thirst, there’s a massive beer garden nearby.

Must eat at:
Munchener Kartoffelhaus is an establishment restaurant in the city, noted for its heavy reliance on potatoes. Every dish seems to contain the apple of the earth in one form or another...

Must be there for:
Oktoberfest – which in 2010 will be 200 years old - is the city’s main annual public event, with up to 6 million revellers thronging the beer tents. Each major brewery hosts its own tent and lays on its own entertainment – expect it to be live and loud!

- If you want to experience Oktoberfest in a tent you’ll need to get in early – by mid-morning at the latest – because getting a seat is key to getting served!
- In common with many German cities, local public transport is world class. However if you want to see the city above ground, a local cycling tour is an ideal way of getting your bearings.

Visa:
British citizens do not need a visa to visit Germany.
