Monastir, Tunisia

Monastir

Well worth exploring

Originally built as a trading post by the Phoenicians and taken over by the Romans under the name of Ruspina, the Tunisian seaport of Monastir has history (and Mediterranean views) on all fronts. Although most visitors tend to stay in the resort of Skanes about 6 miles away, Monastir itself is well worth exploring.

Well-travelled tips:

Take a trip to ancient Sousse, about 20 minutes away, with an ancient Medina, souk and more.

British citizens do not need a visa to enter Tunisia. However, you will need a passport that extends for at least three months longer than the intended duration of your stay, and evidence of a return ticket.
