Must see:
To see the port in all its glory, take a glass-bottomed boat and marvel at the teeming life just below the surface.

Must eat at:
For mouthwatering choice and upbeat nightlife, head out along the Moll de Llevant to the Cala Figuera to visit the trendiest section of town. Ask for caldereta de llangosta (lobster stew) and you won’t be disappointed.

Must be there for:
Gorgeous Mahon marks the end of the summer season every September with the spectacular and graceful Mare de Deu de Gràcia Festival, which has more than a touch of equestrian style to it. Head to the Plaza del Ayuntamiento for skilled horsemanship by day and cocktail-fuelled festivities by night!

Well-travelled tips:
Buses are cheap, though not always plentiful on Menorca. An hourly service runs between Ciutadella and Mahon, and you can expect to pay around 5 euros for the journey.
A legacy of imperial occupation, Gin production is very much alive on the island. Visit Xorigeur distillery down by the docks and sample a truly aromatic brew.
