The second Saudi city
Fly to Jeddah from 1 April 2014 with Saudi Arabian Airlines. Ultra-modern, commercial Jeddah is the outward face of 21st century Saudi Arabia. Looking out on to the Red Sea, with facilities to rival any western city – and that Middle Eastern penchant, the super-skyscraper - it’s nonetheless been careful to preserve its ancient heritage which stretches back 2,500 years. Visit the Floating Mosque in North Corniche, a must visit en-route to Mecca. With a booming economy the commercial city of Jeddah offers great business opportunities, contact UKTI for information on how to do business in Saudi Arabia. For superb business facilities and countless leisure activities to get the most out of your trip including relaxing on Silver Sands Beach, Go Karting, Souq shopping and two impressive aquariums.
From traditional Arabic markets (souqs) to ultra modern shopping malls, Jeddah has it all! Jeddah is a true shoppers paradise. The old town of Balad is great for souvenir shopping. The larger shopping malls are very popular such as the mall of Arabia, Roshan mall or the Red Sea mall where you will find all the international brands. If it is high fashion and exclusive boutiques you are after head to Tahlia Street. Remember.....the weekend is only Friday and Saturday, also offices and shops close 5 times a day for prayer.
Food & Drink
To fill up at breakfast head to Restaurant Ful & Hummus for a selection of bread and fool. Green Island café is a nice spot serving a fusion of foods, cocktails or just coffee and cake - a real find! For a quick meal Al Bail is a firm favourite offering popular fast food, such as breaded Chicken and jumbo shrimps.
