Must see:
Take a trip to some of the outlying islands and islets in the group – Alderney, Herm and Sark, for a taste of island life as it used to be.
Must eat at:
Head out to the parish of St. Saviour and it’ll be worth it. The Farmhouse restaurant, based in the country hotel of the same name, does fine dining, and of course, the island’s gastronomic high – the Guernsey Cream Tea.
Must be there for:
9th May is Liberation Day, when the whole island marks its freedom from Nazi occupation with an island-wide public holiday.
Well-travelled tips:
With no trains on the island, buses form the backbone of Guernsey’s public transport. However, if you have the time and the energy, bicycle hire is cheap and plentiful.
If you hire a car on Guernsey, beware the speed limit – it’s a mere 35mph.
