BW3
Business Working with Wythenshawe – BW3 - is a group of companies working to make a difference to life in the Wythenshawe area, supporting charitable organisations, schools, and adults returning to work.
Chaired by Manchester Airport’s Wendy Sinfield, the many of the area’s major employers are involved, including Wythenshawe Hospital, Shell, Manchester City Football Club, Remploy, City College, Armstrong Craven, Willow Park Housing Trust and Parkway Green Housing Trust. The group is supported by the Wythenshawe Regeneration Team at Manchester City Council.
Here are just some of our recent projects:
Keeping it Clean
Helping ensure that young people are aware of the importance of a clean criminal record, security staff from across member businesses actively participated in the ‘Consequences of Crime’ Day held by Greater Manchester Police. Other members of staff join police officers as part of a programme of discussions with Year 7 pupils aimed at promoting good citizenship.
High Flyers
Every year we offer one of the four high schools in Wythenshawe the opportunity to work with our members on a special two-week long High Flyer project. Over the last three years we have produced a brochure with Parklands High School and healthy eating advice with St Paul’s and Brookway High Schools. Our current project tackles Waste and Recycling with the help of students at Newall Green. We have also run courses for lone parents teaching job seeking skills and offering work experience. This valuable support has also been extended to women serving sentences at Styal Women’s Prison.
