Must see:
You simply won’t be able to miss the Casa Popoluroi – the Palace of Parliament – the late Communist-era folly which dominates the skyline said to be second only in scale to the Pentagon. Set aside an hour just to walk round it... and stand well back to admire the view.

If you’re game, hunt down Burebista for the meatiest offering in town. Expect bear, wild boar and venision to feature on a rich and varied menu.

Artists from 50 countries throng the streets and venues of the Bucharest for a whole week in early May for the city’s annual EuropaFest – which encompasses almost every genre of modern music from classical to rock.
Well-travelled tips:
Beat the jams. The newly renovated Bucharest metro is quick, cheap and, since its recent upgrade, a pleasure to travel.
For drinks with a view, check out La Motoare, an outdoor pub on the roof of the National Theatre, promising city-wide views to go with your beer.
