Must see:
Among the seemingly endless list of must-see attractions in town, the Duomo Vecchio (the Old Cathedral) hosts works of art by a number of local Renaissance masters.

Must eat at:
Not a single place, more a local culinary tradition, the Brescia Spiedo is a must eat when you’re in town. This local signature dish is available pretty much everywhere... just keep an eye open for row upon row of slowly spit-roasted game birds or pork loin.

Must be there for:
Better weather brings out the motoring enthusiasts every May for the annual Mille Miglia (Thousand Mile) vintage car challenge from Brescia to Rome via Ferrara – and back again.

Well-travelled tips:
Local buses could be better – but help is at hand by way of a new underground metro system being built. In the short term (until it’s complete), you may find a cab quicker and more convenient.
For Roman ruins, head to the Piazza del Foro, close your eyes and imagine the majesty of the Capitoline Temple which dates from 73AD.

Visa:
British citizens do not need a visa to visit Italy.
