All Night Buses arrive at Manchester Airport

The popular 43 bus service which runs from Manchester Piccadilly to Manchester Airport is to run throughout the night from September 2nd.

The Stagecoach Manchester bus service from Piccadilly Station to Manchester Airport, which travels through Wythenshawe, is to be extended to become a 24-hour operation. From midnight on the 2nd the service, which is used by passengers and staff travelling to and from Manchester Airport, will run every 30 minutes.

The move to a 24-hour service has been prompted by increasing numbers of passengers and staff who want to travel to and from the Airport at night and is part of the Airport’s overall ground transport strategy encouraging more people to use public transport.

Manchester Airport’s Ground Transport Manager Bob Longworth joined Ray Cossins, Commercial Director for Stagecoach Manchester to don their night attire to mark the start of the new service. Bob explained: “We thought it would be a bit of fun to put our pyjamas on to mark the fact that the service now runs all nigh but on a more serious note, this is a valuable addition to the public transport to and from the airport.

“We want staff and passengers to come by rail, bus, tram, cycle and even walk if they can and extending the bus timetable makes that easier for more people to be able to do.”

And Ray added: “This is a popular bus route and extending the timetable will allow more people to be able to use the service. It will now run through the night and all day so people will be able to take the bus from Piccadilly to the Airport at a time that suits them.”
