Creative Spark to design Summer campaign for Manchester Airport

5th July 2012

Manchester Airport has announced digital and branding agency, Creative Spark, will be playing a major role in its Summer marketing campaign during 2012.

The campaign is a crucial point in the airport’s calendar of activities for the year ahead as they look to promote a variety of commercial activities - including new airline deals, retail offers within terminals and car park packages across its three terminals at Manchester Airport.

Jo Street, Head of Commercial Marketing for Manchester Airport, said: “We were really impressed with the creativity that the team at Creative Spark showed and how they are prepared to push the boundaries through their work.

“We are still a predominantly leisured based airport with a wide variety of passengers - all interested in different options when they fly from Manchester, so the brief is wide ranging.

“I know our passengers are always interested in the best deals and savings from the airport and Creative Spark will play a vital role in getting the message out there.”

Manchester recently assumed the position of third largest airport in the UK for passenger volume ahead of Stansted Airport and behind Heathrow and Gatwick. It will fly over 19 million passengers this year to their destinations from the North of England.

There is much to promote this Summer as the airline network at Manchester continues to grow with over 190 destinations served around the world including Dubai, Singapore, Atlanta, New York, Las Vegas and Paris.

The team at Creative Spark’s Manchester office – which won the account - will be looking to promote some of the deals attached to the route network, but also highlight the options across all of the airport’s car parks - including Valet, Meet and Greet, Long Stay, Short Stay and the low-cost Jet Parks brand.

Additionally they will look to promote the airport’s wide range of retail offers and savings from major brands such as Jo Malone, Bobbie Brown, Next, Monsoon, Kurt Giger as well as the airport’s Escape Lounges in Terminal 1 and 2.

Creative Spark has worked with Sony Music, Universal, Peter Kay, Manchester United and Galaxy FM, amongst others, on a variety of campaigns including branding and digital projects. They will begin on the Airports Summer campaign but will also assist in the delivery of the Winter campaign.

Neil Marra, Director at Creative Spark: “The Manchester Airport & East-Midlands Airport campaign is a fantastic coup for Creative Spark as this is a heavyweight, national campaign and the creative we’ve produced is a pioneering breakthrough for the M.A.G brand.

“The campaign approach is one of ‘glocalisation’ – thinking in terms of global markets but communicating to audiences from a local perspective and initial responses to the creative from media partners and audiences alike has been wholly positive.”

Creative Spark are currently working on an outdoor campaign that will visit cities in different locations across the North, in Manchester’s catchment area that will launch soon.
