Please note all passengers are required to pass through Customs and Immigration. Customs and Immigration are there to ensure that only the appropriate and agreed items can be brought into the UK. Your co-operation is greatly appreciated. All checks are done to maintain the maximum safety of all.

Passport Control
Tips to make your journey easier;
- You will be faced with 2 options EU or NON EU
- No mobile phones are allowed in this area
- Please have you passport open at the photo page ready for scanning. Please note that due to tighter restrictions all passports need to be scanned at the desks, which may take a few minutes.
New biometric passport
If you are travelling into Terminal 1 and you are British, from the EEA or Switzerland or Liechtenstein and have a new biometric passport, instead of queuing to go through passport control you can use one of the 5 ePassport gates and make your journey through the airport ease - simply scan the back of your passport with the chipped section.
Iris Recognition Scheme
IRIS is a means of border control that allows registered passengers to enter the UK quickly through automated barriers. It makes use of the fact that the pattern of the iris in each person's eye (the coloured part of the eye) is unique. This makes it possible for a person to be identified simply by looking into a special camera.
To use this service you need to first register ( it will take around 5-10 minutes). There are register points within the departure lounge of any of the 3 terminals.
Onward Travel
Our integrated public transport hub, The Station, is a state-of-the art interchange for rail, tram and bus services across the North West and beyond.
If you’ve parked at the airport, check how you need to pay. Do you need to visit a pay station before you leave the car park, or have you pre paid?
Courtesy buses to our car parks are signposted outside the terminal buildings.
