The majestic mountain-top Kykkos Monastery boasts a wealth of hand-painted cloisters and galleries – and mosaics going back millennia.
Must eat at:
Colosseum in Kato Paphos fuses French and Mediterranean styles together to produce delicious dishes including pasta with black truffles.
Must be there for:
Cyprus celebrates the coming of Spring with the annual Anthestiria Flower Festival in Paphos every May. Dating back to ancient Greek times, today a parade of flower bedecked floats heads down Poseidon Avenue towards the harbour.
Well-travelled tips:
- To see a different side of Cyprus, take a hike. The Troodos Mountains rise magnificently in the countryside beyond Paphos, with fabulous views down to the coast.
- For exercise with lower impact than the Troodos Mountains, a leisurely promenade round the marina is a fabulous way to end the day and see the sun go down.
