Must see:
If you’re into diving, the wreck of the Zenobia is a must-see attraction. This huge ferry, which sank less than 30 years ago, lies not far from the surface less than half a kilometre from Larnaca harbour.

Must eat at:
Militzis, on Piale Pascha, serves-up honest Cypriot cooking, all brought to life with a bottle or two of their very own wine. It’s always busy, and locals speak highly of it – a good sign.

Must be there for:
The annual Kataklysmos (Festival of the Flood) in early summer has evolved from a single week into a much grander three week cultural celebration, which closes the seafront to traffic.

Well-travelled tips:
For a chilled-out night with added blues (that’s music, not vibe) head to the Blue Pine Bar, which has a huge spirits bar and knowledgeable staff.
Bird spotters visiting Cyprus out of season should head straight for the Larnaca Salt Lake, to the west, to see flocks of beautiful pink flamingos.

Visa:
British citizens do not need a visa to visit Cyprus.
