Although not particularly cheap, The Cliff in Derrick is a multi-level open air dining room famed for its innovative approach. Expect grilled snapper, thai-style curried shrimp... and the occasional stingray in the waters beneath.
Must be there for:
Head to the island in mid-July for the kick-off of the annual 3-week Crop Over Festival, with fairs, calypso aplenty and a glittering Carnival-like parade on Kadooment Day on the first Monday every August.
Well-travelled tips:
July isn’t always the best month to visit the island – on average there are 18 rainy days.
Although taxis are regulated and fares are fixed, there are no meters – so always agree a fare in advance.
Visa:
British citizens do not normally need a visa when travelling to Barbados.
