Billund, Denmark
Right in the middle of Denmark’s Jutland Peninsula
Billund is a company town dedicated to small, brightly coloured plastic blocks. Lego has its worldwide headquarters here, and 90% of all the world’s Lego is made nearby. This small, perfectly kept town soon gives way to a beautiful hinterland noted for some of Europe’s most startling prehistoric finds.

Well-travelled tips:

For living history aplenty, head to nearby Jelling for ancient churches, runestones and more.
