Zakynthos, otherwise known as Zante, was nicknamed the ‘Flower of the Orient’ by the Venetians. Get to grips with the island’s natural beauty as you browse our great selection of holidays to Zakynthos. One of Zakynthos’ major draws is its gorgeous beaches, and most are great for children as the sand slopes gently into the lovely sea waters. The island also has swathes of hidden coves walled by rugged cliffs, where you might be able to find your own little spot of secluded sand. Smuggler’s Cove is a picture-perfect location that you'll see adorning plenty of postcards. Head to Laganas beach if you want to try and spot loggerhead sea turtles. Around half an hour’s drive south of here you'll find Gerakas beach, which has a turtle conservation centre where you can learn about the efforts being made to prevent our little friends becoming extinct. The Blue Grotto, at the northern tip of the island, is one Zakynthos’ most famous attractions. In addition to throwing up some fascinating rock formations, it’s also one of the best places to go diving. Not only is there vibrant marine life, but you can also explore an exciting shipwreck. Water sports are also very popular, and Zakynthos is great for windsurfing and kitesurfing. St. Nicholas beach in the south is a real hotspot for this, and you can be dragged around in a rubber ring or banana boat, or enjoy parasailing. Whether you're staying in a lively spot such as Laganas or somewhere a bit quieter like Kalamaki, our holidays to Zakynthos section will help you get the best out of this fabulous destination.
