With record-breaking times on the track, and tense rivalries playing out off it, this year’s Formula One season has been one of the most explosive in recent memory. The Mercedes pair, Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton, are still vying for the title and everyone is expecting fireworks from the season finale in Abu Dhabi from 25th - 27th November.
Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit is at the heart of the man-made Yas Island, at the very northern edge of the capital city. One of the most unique Grand Prix meets on the F1 calendar, nothing really compares to being there in person amidst the racing drama and spectacle, making Abu Dhabi something of a pilgrimage destination for the diehard F1 fan. After each day of entertainment around the track, attentions will turn to huge headline concerts and performances from Lionel Richie, Rihanna and The Chemical Brothers. Beside Rosberg and Rihanna, visits to Abu Dhabi and Yas Island this month will also be rewarded with the chance to experience Ferrari World, the only Ferrari-branded theme park in the world, which boasts - you might not be surprised to hear - the world's fastest roller coaster.
Beyond the burning rubber and the buzz of a racing circuit and rollercoasters, Abu Dhabi is an endlessly fascinating city. A land of Arabian riches and history spanning nearly three millennia, the city’s rich cultural heritage today sits surprisingly easily alongside its slick, ultra-modern skyscrapers, malls and man-made beaches.
