Menorca’s less developed than other Balearic islands like Ibiza and Mallorca. If you value greater peace then holidays to Mahon are ideal. While other Balearics have buzzing nightlife and attract hordes of partygoers, you'll find holidays to Mahon from Manchester Airport much more relaxed. Mahon is the capital of Menorca and lies in the southeast of the island. The city sits on one of the world’s largest natural harbours, which is 5km long and almost 1km wide in places. This location means Mahon’s quite sheltered so it’s perfect for strolling around the harbour and taking in the lovely views. Find a terrace and sit down for a long lunch or romantic dinner with harbour views as the sun goes down. La Mola Fortress overlooks the harbour and is a gorgeous spot to explore as you gaze back across Mahon and out to the Mediterranean. Menorca was designated as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1993, so the whole island’s great for exploring. Keep your eye out for some of the last turtles in the Med, as well as interesting birds and other protected species. Hike through the wetlands of the Parc Natural S’Albufera d’es Grau and stumble across the mysterious prehistoric monuments that punctuate the island. You won’t be far from the sweeping pale sands of Menorca’s southern shores with Manchester to Mahon holidays, while the island’s other major city, Ciutadella, sits on the west coast. If you’re going with the family then head to Castillo Menorca and splash around in the swimming pool, before playing a round of mini golf or racing around the go-kart track. You can also climb highest peak Monte Toro for great views before cooling down at the fun-filled Aquarock waterpark with holidays to Menorca.
