From the natural beauty to the walled Old Town and plenty of culture, it’s impossible not to be impressed by holidays to Dubrovnik. With its coastal setting and wonderful history, there’s plenty to explore in this fascinating city. Start your sightseeing in the famous Old Town, which is packed with interesting landmarks and historical draws. Wander along cobbled streets and gaze up at the old city walls as you make your way between centuries-old buildings like the Franciscan Monastery. Stroll down Placa Stradun and dive down its myriad of alleyways that serve up quirky little shops perfect for souvenirs, before checking out the Old Port. Dubrovnik has become famous over recent years as one of the settings for the popular TV series Game of Thrones. If you’re a fan of the show you’ll recognise the city’s uncanny resemblance to King’s Landing, and there are walking tours you can go on which will take you to places that have been used for filming. If you want to explore more of the stunning Croatian coastline, then book a boat trip or sailing excursion and pay a visit to islands such as Lokrum. If you’d rather stay on land, head to Banje Beach near the Old Town and dip your toes in the lovely Adriatic waters, before sipping a drink at a beach bar as the sun sets above the sea. Visit the impressive Fort Lovrijenac, explore the museum at St Ivan Fort, and take a cable car to the top of Srd Hill for breathtaking views with holidays to Dubrovnik from Manchester Airport.
