Agadir was levelled by an earthquake in 1960, and since then has been rebuilt - to safer specifications - a couple of kilometres to the south. The group of architects were able to start again in many ways when planning how Agadir would develop, and the city is now both an important urban centre in addition to a wonderful holiday resort.
