Key Stage 4

Tour Option 1:

This tour takes place at Runway Visitor Park and will involve a one hour interactive lecture, followed by a tour around the park providing general information about our aircraft, runways, airport buildings, etc.

The tour will last for 2 hours.

The cost of Tour Option 1 is £8.50 per student, with up to 4 tutors free of charge. Additional adults are charged at £8.50 per person.

A minimum tour charge of £100 applies.

Tour Option 2:

This tour involves a one hour interactive lecture at Runway Visitor Park and a walking tour of Manchester Airport’s Terminal 1.

This tour will not give your group airside access.

The duration of this tour is 3 hours, which includes travel time between Runway Visitor Park & the airport coach station.

The cost Tour Option 2 is £12.00 per student, up to 4 tutors are free of charge. Additional adults are charged at £12.00 per person.

You are responsible for all parts of your transport. In addition to the tour costs, there will be a £10 parking fee at the airport coach station.

Please note: There is no charge for parking at Runway Visitor Park. A minimum tour charge of £125 applies.

The order of the tours may be reversed in order to allow for other tour bookings.

The topics for the lecture are:

Handling air passengers

The aim of the module is to provide students with an understanding of the various processes involved in the handling passengers. From arriving at the airport to boarding their aircraft, then for the arriving passenger from touch down to departing the airport.

Customer service

The aim of this module is to provide students with an understanding of customer service at Manchester Airport and the crucial role it plays.

Exploring airports & airlines

The aim of this module is to provide students with an understanding of the various processes involved in the handling of in and out bound flights, both landside and airside.

Manchester Airport IT

The aim of the module is to provide students with an understanding of the way in which information technology facilitates many of the everyday activities at Manchester Airport. The presentation looks at the role of the airport’s central database Chroma and then examines the role of IT in assisting the passenger, from making a booking through to baggage reclaim on the return journey.

Manchester Airport as a business

This module aims to provide students with an understanding of how Manchester Airport functions as a business.

Environment

This module provides students with an understanding of the impact that aviation has on the environment and the way that Manchester Airport deals with its responsibilities to the environment.

Tours of Concorde can be arranged, though availability is limited, they start from £5 per person. There is no discount for tutors & adult helpers on Concorde Tours.
